Bears boys basketball face Panthers Friday night

Union City – Friday, January 25th, the Union City Bears will face the Saegertown Panthers for the second time this season. In their first meeting, the Bears defeated the Panthers 68-42.
As of now, the Panthers are 8-7 overall and 3-4 in the Region. Union City, however, holds strong with an 11-3 record and 6-1 in the Region. At home, UC is currently undefeated. They look to keep their streak alive in their upcoming games.
In comparison, the Bears have better game averages in blocks, points, rebounds and assists. The Panthers only beat UC in steals. Both teams have exceptional players that prove their talent every time they are on the court. For Saegertown, Max Fuller leads the team in points per game and Eli Draa dominates in rebounds, assists, steals and blocks per game. Union City’s top players are more spread out. Miles Parker is the team’s top scorer each game with an average of 15.4 points. Brayden Kinney averages 9.5 rebounds and 1.8 steals. Blake Hornaman holds the assists position with 3.1 and Bronnan Higley stays consistent with 4.9 blocks.
Their performances during each game show in each teams’ rank in Pennsylvania. Out of the 728 ranked basketball teams in their region, Saegertown is the 554th team and the Bears are the 257th team. Both are looking for a region win in game two Friday night.
Union City will be making up a game Saturday, January 26th at 1pm against the Harbor Creek Huskies. Originally the non-conference game was supposed to take place on Wednesday night.
