Mix 96.7 to Launch Fourth and Final Digital Platform. Online Country Station to be Called “The Bear”
By Staff Reports
On March 1st, after several months of gathering research on radio formats best suited for Union City, the group involved with Mix 96.7, Union City Today, and UCTV announces our fourth and final local digital platform. A new online (internet only) radio station will debut with a country format specializing in the country music of the 80’s and 90’s, with some earlier 70’s classics sprinkled in.
The station will be heard on multiple platforms including online with PC’s and tablets, as well as on smartphones via the free and popular Tunein Radio App. “We found after conducting local research, that a country station of this kind is not only good locally, but for Erie County as well. While there’s country stations in the area, no one is doing a classic country station on FM.” said Manager Chris Lash.
The station like its terrestrial FM sister, Mix 96.7, The Bear will be all about Union City, with local news, sports, weather and personalities including Lash and new local Operations Director Tom Lavery. “The music is incredible, and features core artists like Alabama, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, George Strait, Toby Keith, Garth Brooks, Merle Haggard, George Jones, and many other legends.” added Lash.
Mix 96.7, and our group and staff, have kind of adopted a slogan “Once a Union City Bear, always a Union City Bear”, and now we a radio station with a name reflecting the pride the entire community has for our local high school mascot.
Again the new Classic Country The Bear will debut on March 1st.
The website will be www.thebearradio.com
