Lady Bears Lose Softball Opener

The Union City Lady Bears traveled to Saegertown to play Cambridge Springs on Wednesday, because the field was not ready for softball in Cambridge Springs. That didn’t stop the Cambridge ladies from scoring often in a 15-6 win over the visiting Lady Bears.
Cambridge jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the first inning. The game then went back and forth with the Lady Bears scoring two runs in the fourth, three in the fifth, and another in the sixth. It wasn’t enough as Cambridge Spings continued to up their lead, and pulled away with another six run inning.
Eliza Reynolds for Union City took the loss on the mound, allowing six runs, six hits and one strikeout. Abby Tingley relieved Reynolds, and gave up nine runs on eight hits, striking out four and walking two. Union City remains on the road, Monday, when they Villa Maria.
