Union City Man Guilty Of Stealing Drugs While Employed at Soldier & Sailors Home

The Erie Times News in various stories is reporting that James Franks of Union City has pleaded quilty of one drug law while he was a pharmacist at the Erie Soldier and Sailors Home. The court was shown information that Franks unlawfully obtained more than 12,000 dosage units of opioids by fraud for personal use.
The thefts occured between the summers of July 2016 and 2017. Franks was fired in August 2017. His sentencing hearing is set for October 15th before Judge Susan Baxter. The law provides for a total sentence of four years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history.
